EveryDay Mathematics Online Games
The students are really enjoying playing the online version of many of the math games we play in class. You can access
these at home too. Use the Learning Link at the bottom right side of the page - Math: Kids ConnectEd. The students can play online games to practice their skills. They can play against the computer or choose multi-player format and play with a parent or sibling.
If your child does not remember their passcode, you might also still have the letter that I sent home with that information from Back to School Night. Otherwise, send me a note in the planner.
Healthy Snack Initiative
We will be having a mid-morning snack time each day to sustain the children's energy until lunch time (12:20-1:05 PM). Please send only healthy snacks such as fruits or vegetables. Of course there are other healthy options such as low-fat yogurt or granola bars. Just make sure to avoid sugar laden snacks and drinks. We must also avoid products with peanuts to ensure the safety of our students with allergies.
In this Healthy Snack Initiative Letter you will find more healthy snack ideas!
Thank you kindly for your cooperation!

Parent's Guide to Student Success for Grade 2
The National PTA provides an excellent Parent Guide, providing an overview of what second grade students will learn by the end of the year in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Have you seen the list of Learning Links on the right side of my webpage to find websites related to second grade curriculum and learning? I recommend using the math links provided for extra practice and for challenge. The Spelling practice link is also great for learning sight words. Starfall's reading website might also provide something interesting for weekend reading. We will soon use the Raz-Kids website and so you'll find the link there too.
